Hi Ben,
I’m sorry for the delay, and for the problem you’re having. It makes no sense that Adobe Illustrator reports a problem to the plugin, yet reports to the user that the operation completed successfully.
I’ll get back to you via email to work on troubleshooting this problem.

I have same problem
I get this error when trying to activate in illustrados (26.3.1) (Windows 10- 64 bits)
May 26, 2022 at 8:08 pm #5938Rick JohnsonKeymasterI Mattew, I apologize for the problem. It’s actually quite rare, but has been happening a bit more often over the past year or two, even though the related code has not changed since 2016.
It’s possible that there’s a temporary interruption in the internet, like my site going briefly offline (as it occasionally does). Simply trying again later on may solve the problem.
It’s also possible that something changed in the CORE plugin libraries I use. Hot Door created the CORE libraries for their CADtools plugin and also use it in their Control series of plugins. If you’re able to activate any of the Hot Door plugins, then there’s a good chance it can be fixed here, too. In one case, a customer from a large tech company could not activate a plugin in the office because of the communication error, so he took the computer home and successfully activated it from there. Yet other computers in the same office had no problem activating plugins. It’s an elusive problem, but I’ll continue to look for a solution. If you’re having this problem and do find a workaround, please let me know so I can share it with other users.

ver. 17.1 window 9
I can’t find solution this issue until now.
July 27, 2022 at 3:34 am #6131Rick JohnsonKeymasterHi bbbshop, did you get the email I sent to you? If not, then maybe rj-graffix.com is being blocked by your system or by your ISP. In the past, other users have had trouble because my IP was blocked by naver.com. Please contact them, because chances are good that they are the problem.
Did you read the frequently-asked-questions on the support page? Maybe Norton LifeLock is blocking it.
What version of the plugin are you using? You can see this in the About Box window. What version of Illustrator are you using? You say you have CADtools: does CADtools work for you?
Please respond to the email I sent in response to your support request. If you did not see it, I am probably blocked by your ISP. I cannot contact them because I cannot read any of the web site to find their help or support area.

I purchased 3 tools – ToolShed, Cutting tool & Concatenate then activate them and it’s works. But today I can’t use my tools…. I tried to activate them again, but I got errors – has encountered a communication error with the licensing server
July 1, 2023 at 7:56 am #7337Rick JohnsonKeymasterI apologize for the delay with this reply, but am glad we got it fixed via the support page.

I understand the frustration that comes with technical issues, especially when they’re intermittent and hard to pin down. It seems like the problem might be related to network connectivity, considering the site’s occasional downtime. Trying again later is a good first step, as it might just be a temporary glitch.
Regarding the CORE plugin libraries, it’s possible that updates or changes within those libraries are causing the activation issues, even if your code hasn’t changed. It’s like how sometimes, even without changes in our environment, MySQL might behave differently than MariaDB due to updates or configuration changes, even though they started as quite similar database systems.
The workaround you mentioned, activating the plugin from a different location, suggests that network policies or security settings in the office might be blocking the communication needed for activation. It’s a clever solution and definitely worth sharing with others who might face the same issue.
Keep looking for a solution, and if you find a consistent workaround, sharing it will surely help others in the community. Remember, persistence is key, just like with databases, whether you’re team MySQL Vs Maria DB.
Best,
David -
